Below are themes that may appear during the course of a regular season. They are meant to challenge members and/or foster interaction between teams outside the competitive scope. With the exception of themes like Roulette, they are executed prior to a bye week giving teams fourteen days to come up with a solution to the challenge or learn a song.
Draw 2 Pick 1
Music genres or subjects are printed and placed in a hat. Teams then determine in which order they will take turns selecting them. The first team draws two from the hat, selects one, then places the other back in the hat to potentially be selected again. The game is over when everyone has a music genre or subject.
Wheel For Tunes
Tracks are selected and loaded onto a wheel. Before competition, each team will spin the wheel in the order of their appearance for their song. Once each team has gone once, they spin again in reverse order. After each team has three songs, they may choose who and which round each song is performed on the night of competition.
Teams are asked to determine their soloists in advance. A singer or group will receive a song from people against whom they are not competing that week.
Music genres or subjects are printed and placed in sealed envelops. Teams then determine in which order they will take turns selecting them. The first team opens an envelope, and the turn ends. On subsequent turns, each team has the choice to either open a new envelope or “steal” another team’s genre or subject. If a team’s genre or subject is stolen, that team can either choose another sealed envelop to open or can steal from another team. The game is over when everyone has a music genre or subject.
