Track Adjustments

Some might know how best to make a song fit their vocal ability. CLK gives the opportunity to change a song’s key or tempo to such people.

  • Key Change – Per their direction, the emcee is able to adjust songs to better fit a singer’s specified range for any round.

  • Tempo – At the direction of the singer, the emcee is able to adjust the desired speed of songs for any round.

Visual Enhancements

Some might want to visually augment their performance to better convey their interpretation of a song. CLK gives such people the opportunity to dress in costumes and/or use props. It also allows a teammate to help with acting out a scene and/or someone to assist with the use of props.

  • Costumes – Theme permitting, performers are able to outfit themselves in whatever fashion they feel will contribute to their rendition of the song during any round.

  • Props – Theme permitting, performers are able to use items they feel will contribute to their rendition of the song during any round. These are items not provided by the league. There are, however, some limitations listed below:

    • food items not sold at the venue and are distributed to the audience or judges for consumption (e.g. homemade cookies, store bought candy)
    • items used in a manner that might cause harm to the audience, the performer, and/or property of the venue (e.g. fireworks, foghorns, lasers)
    • items not able to be setup or torn down by a team within the allotted 60 seconds.
  • Stage Partner – Theme permitting, performers are able to add one (1) non-vocal performer. This person must be a teammate of theirs from the current season.

Note: Items a team might want to use during a theme that restricts the use of props (e.g. microphone stands) requires the approval of the Executive Committee and is only given on a case by case basis. Should an item be approved for use, that item must be made available to all teams or it cannot be used.

Vocal Enhancements

Some might want to audibly augment their performance with additional vocals, someone to act a scene out with, and/or someone to assist with the use of props. CLK gives such people the opportunity to turn their solos into duets, trios, and/or pull someone onstage to assist with their performance.

  • 1-Ups – During the course of the regular season; each team has three (3) opportunities to add vocals to their performance turning it into a duet, trio, or quartet. Listed below are three (3) options that each team may only use once per regular season:

Bring A Teammate   Bring A Teammate – This has to be a teammate, from a person’s own team, from the current season. This can be used in solo rounds but not group.
Bring A Guest   Bring A Guest – This has to be a person that is not a registered member of the league from the current season. This can be used in all rounds to include group.
Bring A Competitor – This has to be a teammate, from another team, from the current season. This can be used in all rounds to include group.
  • Microphones – CLK provides up to four (4) microphones for teams to use.

Note: The emcee will be actively adjusting the volume of each mic throughout performances. Try to keep mic transfers down to a minimum so that the emcee can easily make performers sound their best.
